Predator's Nest
                              -  A skirmish mission for X-wing Alliance


Instructions:

Just unzip the contents of this file into your X-Wing Alliance skirmish directory.  

It can be played with up to 6 players, three on each side.  This mission has been made from the presepective of Rebel side, however should you chose mercenary it should bring about just as equal a challenge therefore is suitable for playing against someone in multiplayer.


The Story:

Good evening pilots, please take your seats for today's briefing.

Intel has just recieved word of a new chemical being transported from Coruscant to an unknown Imperial research point.  Our sources claim this chemical is a special gas the Imperials may well incorporate into their chemical weapons division- the effects of the gas are as yet unknown (which is the reason for our mission) but we can assume it isn't pretty.

The chemicals are being transported by a mercenary organization well known to the Empire but is being escorted by an Imperial Corellian gunship due to the nature of the containers- we suspect important information on the chemicals will be stored in the memory bank of this ship.

The mercenarys involved in this operation are not your average bunch of Sithspawn.  What we are dealing with here are the Hash Clan.  These guys are relatively well hidden within an asteroid field and are only moderately armed with weak starfighters and a few static defences but what makes them different from the rest is how, well to put it frankly- mad they are.

They are all from the same weird as hell species and boy do these guys take flying seriously- even more so than Rogue, they work on a clan structure and spend hours searching for ion traces for anything they can attack just to improve their flying abilities yet even more.

Each of these pilots are easily aces so watch it out there- the only reason they are working for the Empire is so they can afford better fighters and we assume they will be delighted to be attacked by the Rebellion- they may even have set up ion cannons so they can capture our ships.

Your mission objectives are quite simple- Buccaneer disables the containers from Coruscant and the Gunship while Rogue and Corsair provide cover for the ATRNs who'll then procede to capture them for us.  Due to the fact that these guys have been terrorising the surrounding systems with their "target practice" we do not regard them as civilans therefore you are free to frag the base.

Known Bugs:

The XWA skirmish editor is adequate at best, and there are limits to what can be done to the missions and assigning individual goals to the crafts. For instance, the Mercenarys could technically destroy the containers to bring about a mission failure for the Rebel side. Unfortunately due to skirmish editor constraints there is currently no way to safeguard the CNTs against this kind of underhanded tactic.
